And the MVP Goes To…

10.2.16

First in, last out, these tunnel tomatoes are the hardest working plants on the farm. They started yielding fruit in early July, weeks before their field brethren, and haven’t stopped since. What are the field tomatoes up to these days? Lying in a giant brush pile, waiting to get lit.

We didn’t know what to expect from our first season of high tunnel tomato cultivation, but we’re now total evangelists. Free from the stresses of rain, dew, and dramatic temperature fluctuations, these tomatoes remained disease-free for much of the season. It’s like we created our own little California right here in PA. I already have my eyes on a few spots of land for future tunnels. Now that we’ve seen the results, 3000 sq. ft. just doesn’t seem like enough.
