If you sense a little incoherence in this first update of the season, my apologies in advance. There are a lot of exciting things happening on the farm right now, but sleep is not one of them.
The most exciting development, bar none, is the arrival of our newest farmer: Frances Harbin Jefferies, born April 29th. She went for her first walk around the farm yesterday to visit her dad in the high tunnel. Her eyes were closed for most of the journey, but we made sure to narrate all the sights and sounds: the strawberry plants dotted with flowers, the teeny tiny carrot seedlings, the first round of tomatoes putting on size in the tunnel, and so much more.
Of course, it wouldn’t be spring in PA without some weather woes. We had days and days of warm, dry weather, followed by days and days of clouds and drizzle. Some of the plants seem a little confused, but we’re confident they’ll bounce back in the coming weeks. Thanks to Frankie’s arrival, our hopes for Season 6 are high, and our hearts our full of promise.
