We’re just a week or two away from wrapping up a season’s worth of transplanting, and we have an unwieldy tower of plug flats to prove it. Navigating this pile of 10x20s that once held a farm’s worth of baby produce is like playing the most boring game of Jenga. Come winter, they’ll all find their way to a tub of bleach and everything starts anew.
As the planting winds down, the harvest kicks into overdrive, with summer crops and fall crops jostling for space in the back of the van. I know I ramble about the summer/fall overlap every year, but every year I can’t help but get really, really excited! I can finally make my favorite sweet chili eggplant and arugula toss. Eggplant and arugula, together at last! The joys of late summer.
