Our 8th season kicks off this Sunday at Headhouse Market!
Can you believe it? Maybe it’s just the warm weather talking, but Landon and I have a good feeling about this one.
After last year’s soggy summer, we decided to make some changes around here to mitigate the potential damage of heavy rains. We’re digging ditches (above left) and making mounds (above right) to move the water away from our sensitive veggies. Across town, we’ve leased a small 1-acre parcel of dry land to give us a little bit of insurance in the instance of a wet season. So far, we’re planning on using the space to double our sweet potato production, add some more space-intensive brassicas (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli) and bring back paste tomatoes for all the preservers out there.
While we can’t know for sure how this season will shake out, one thing is for certain: 2018 is going to be a whole lot figgier! Thanks to the generous support of the FruitGuys Community Fund, we’re building a 21’x48′ high tunnel and filling it with 21 fig trees. As is customary in Spring, the farm is bristling with possibility. Landon and I can’t wait to see what this season has in store, and we’re even more excited to share it with all of you. Thanks for joining us!
