This morning, Landon found a turtle in the road!
Instead of bringing it straight to the stream on his way home from daycare, he brought the turtle back to the farm and gave me a call: “Hey Lin, I picked up a friend on the way home, and you’ll probably want to see it. It’s a turtle. I could just bring it to the stream now or I could come get you in the pick-up truck and we could do it together.” We, of course, opted for the latter.
After dropping the turtle alongside the stream (Landon let me do the honors), we watched it amble toward the water and marveled at its natural camouflage. Moments later, we saw a fox in our neighbor’s field–it was just that kind of morning.
There’s lots of farm work to do right now and we got off to a slow start this morning, but neither of us really minded. There’s no point in choosing this crazy farm life if you can’t take the time to enjoy all the things that make it so beautiful. Our only regret was that Frankie wasn’t around to see it.
